Are lab-grown diamonds real diamonds?
Yes. A lab-grown diamond is a diamond created through a controlled manufacturing process rather than formed naturally within the Earth. It is not the same material as cubic zirconia or moissanite, which are diamond alternatives with different chemical structures and optical properties.
According to the Gemological Institute of America (GIA), laboratory-grown diamonds possess essentially the same chemical, physical and optical properties as natural diamonds. To the unaided eye, two well-matched stones can look the same. Their different growth histories can still be identified by trained gemologists using advanced testing equipment.

How are lab-grown diamonds made?

HPHT: High Pressure High Temperature

CVD: Chemical Vapor Deposition
